It is middle of summer and I try to find summer fish. I get some next week and decide which one I carry.

Kamasu, Barracuda is one of choice,.

And I will try Butter fish, Rock fish and more.

low-fat diet significantly reduced risk of death after breast cancer but same effect was not seen for other cancers

Women who consumed a low-fat diet had a significantly reduced risk of death after breast cancer. However, women with other cancers who were also on a low-fat diet did not experience the same effect, according to new results from the Women’s Health Initiative Dietary Modification trial that will be discussed at the 2018 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting in Chicago, June 1 to 5.

Anyway ,animal fat  is really bad for our body, especially for blood. Blood should run like clean rivers.

But if we take a lot of animal fat, it runs slow and clogged up eventually.

Eat red cabbage and celery to avoid it.

Fish Information

Tuna? Where is good tuna? Maybe it’s gone. I carry Yellow fin only now, there is no choice.

Uni comes from all over the world. We get it from Chile and Peru this week. CA uni is hard to get this week. Japanese uni is coming on Thursday.

I stop to buy “Fish Omakase Box”. The reason is simple, same kinds of fishes are in it many times. I will try again in summer or autumn.

Hamachi, I still buy fresh one. But might switch to frozen soon. The reason?  Hamachi in summer is not great. Frozen Hamachi harvest in spring and frozen might be better choice.

Live scallop from Boston is not bad. I can get 2-3 times a week. This is nothing change.

Taka Update April 2018

Taka Sushi Update April 7, 2018

Fish Information

Getting good tuna is not easy. I did not get any good tuna in March. I think this trend is same in April.

Uni is changed. Small sized Maine uni is over. But the same kind of uni comes from NE Canada. California big uni comes sometimes, it is from Santa Barbara.

I still buy Fish Omakase box. It comes every Tuesday. This is from Fukuoka, Japan. You can taste real sushi and sashimi same as Japan. It is 4-5 kinds of fish in the box.

Hamachi, yellow tail season is almost over. But the quality is not bad. I but it for a while.

Live scallop from Boston is not bad. I can get 2-3 times a week.

April Promotion

Weather is getting better and some people drink beer for lunch. Sapporo draft beer is $3 by the glass during lunch.

Fish Omage 3 can reduce Death risk?

Fish intake and type 2 diabetes in Japanese men and women: the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study.

The participants were 22,921 men and 29,759 women aged 45-75 y who completed a questionnaire of the second survey for the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study and who had no history of diabetes. Diet was ascertained by using a 147-item food-frequency questionnaire. ORs of self-reported, physician-diagnosed type 2 diabetes over 5 y were estimated by using logistic regression.

During the 5-y period, 971 new cases (572 men and 399 women) of type 2 diabetes were self-reported. In men, fish intake was significantly associated with a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes; multivariable-adjusted ORs of type 2 diabetes for the highest compared with the lowest quartile of intake were 0.73 (95% CI: 0.54, 1.00; P-trend = 0.04) for total fish and seafood and 0.68 (95% CI: 0.50, 0.92; P-trend = 0.016) for small and medium fish (horse mackerel and sardine, saury and mackerel, and eel). Additional analysis by fat content of fish did not detect any significant association for each category. In women, fish intake was not appreciably associated with type 2 diabetes risk.

In a population with high fish and seafood intake, fish consumption was associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes in men but not in women.

So, what kind of fishes are good?  Aji (Japanese jack), sardine, saury, mackerel, eel, salmon, trout, sea bream are good. Basically all blue skin fishes are good. But the problem is many American people don’t like those fishy items. Also vegetables with fibers, seaweed, fruits can reduce LDL. And need some sweat exercise like 30 minutes walking daily.

Scientists Identify Weight Loss Ripple Effect

People who make an effort to lose weight aren’t just helping themselves, they may be helping others too. That’s the finding of a new University of Connecticut study that tracked the weight loss progress of 130 couples over six months. The researchers found that when one member of a couple commits to losing weight, the chances were good the other partner would lose some weight too, even if they were not actively participating in a weight loss intervention. In the study, approximately one third of the untreated partners lost 3 percent or more of their initial body weight after six months despite not participating in any active intervention.  A three percent loss of body weight is considered a measurable health benefit. The study’s lead investigator, UConn Professor Amy Gorin, calls it a “ripple effect.” “When one person changes their behavior, the people around them change,” says Gorin, a behavioral psychologist. “Whether the patient works with their healthcare provider, joins a community-based, lifestyle approach like Weight Watchers, or tries to lose weight on their own, their new healthy behaviors can benefit others in their lives.”
