Taka Update April 2018

Taka Sushi Update April 7, 2018

Fish Information

Getting good tuna is not easy. I did not get any good tuna in March. I think this trend is same in April.

Uni is changed. Small sized Maine uni is over. But the same kind of uni comes from NE Canada. California big uni comes sometimes, it is from Santa Barbara.

I still buy Fish Omakase box. It comes every Tuesday. This is from Fukuoka, Japan. You can taste real sushi and sashimi same as Japan. It is 4-5 kinds of fish in the box.

Hamachi, yellow tail season is almost over. But the quality is not bad. I but it for a while.

Live scallop from Boston is not bad. I can get 2-3 times a week.

April Promotion

Weather is getting better and some people drink beer for lunch. Sapporo draft beer is $3 by the glass during lunch.

We changed 3 Tavern local beer from IPA to Prince of Pilsen. I like this.

My follower reached 1000 people last week. It took 2 years maybe. I am looking for 1500 people in 6 months. I post new fishes, daily specials, my dog, golf and more. It is fun to watch. Please join at sushiandpassion. Thank you.

April Big event

We have Wagyu nights. It is held April 17 Tuesday and 18 Wednesday. I buy fresh wagyu from Japan and make several dishes like, tartar, sushi, grille and more. Wagyu is expensive? Yes it is but I get a good deal and try to not sell high prices.  Please book your table.

Fish Omage 3 can reduce Death risk?

Fish intake and type 2 diabetes in Japanese men and women: the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study.

The participants were 22,921 men and 29,759 women aged 45-75 y who completed a questionnaire of the second survey for the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study and who had no history of diabetes. Diet was ascertained by using a 147-item food-frequency questionnaire. ORs of self-reported, physician-diagnosed type 2 diabetes over 5 y were estimated by using logistic regression.

During the 5-y period, 971 new cases (572 men and 399 women) of type 2 diabetes were self-reported. In men, fish intake was significantly associated with a decreased risk of type 2 diabetes; multivariable-adjusted ORs of type 2 diabetes for the highest compared with the lowest quartile of intake were 0.73 (95% CI: 0.54, 1.00; P-trend = 0.04) for total fish and seafood and 0.68 (95% CI: 0.50, 0.92; P-trend = 0.016) for small and medium fish (horse mackerel and sardine, saury and mackerel, and eel). Additional analysis by fat content of fish did not detect any significant association for each category. In women, fish intake was not appreciably associated with type 2 diabetes risk.

In a population with high fish and seafood intake, fish consumption was associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes in men but not in women.

So, what kind of fishes are good?  Aji (Japanese jack), sardine, saury, mackerel, eel, salmon, trout, sea bream are good. Basically all blue skin fishes are good. But the problem is many American people don’t like those fishy items. Also vegetables with fibers, seaweed, fruits can reduce LDL. And need some sweat exercise like 30 minutes walking daily.
