Fish delivery and more

2 months more and 2014 is coming? It is too early to pass the days. Time is really goes by.  But tuna supply is great. I received good big eye tuna again yesterday. It was 49 lb stomach side. I sold one Maguro Kama last night.

Japanese fish has same problem like last week. We did not get enough fish yesterday because of tyhoon effect. Some are coming on Thursday.

Movie shootings in Atlanta bring many celebs. Samuel Jackson and Jessica Alba might come to Taka. They are here. We had some movie industry people from CA and they told me.

Hawaiian fish is coming today. I get Walu, Hebi, Ono and Opa this week. People are getting understood about Hawaiian fish. Clean water can grow healthy lean fish and is good for our body.

Breast-feeding may help children climb social ladder

Breast-feeding a child may give him or her a leg up towards the top of the social ladder.

A new study published in BMJ journal Archives of Disease in Childhood on June 24 revealed that children who were breast-fed moved higher up in social class than their counterparts.

“Breast-feeding has lifelong benefits,” study author Amanda Sacker, a researcher at the University College London, said to HealthDay. “Breast-feeding not only gives children a good start in life, but also boosts chances of a healthy and successful adulthood. For most women, breast-feeding offers them a simple way to improve their child’s life chances.”

The World Health Organization says babies should be exclusively breast-fed for the first six months of life, and then receive a combination of food and mother’s milk through 2 years of age. If 90 percent of families breast-fed for the recommended 6-month period, almost 1,000 infant deaths would be prevented and $13 billion in annual medical costs would be saved.

In reality, the rate is much lower. In the U.S., about 45 percent of mothers were breast-feeding at six months, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC also noted that 40 percent of parents gave their infants solid food before they were 4 months old.

Breast-feeding is especially important according to experts because it provides protections for newborns and infants, including transferring antibodies, cells and hormones that could protect a child from illness. Children who are breast-fed have lower rates of ear infections, diarrhea, respiratory infections, asthma, Type 2 diabetes and necrotizing entercolitis (which attacks the gastrointestinal tract in premature infants) than formula-fed children.

Giving the child breast milk also has benefits for the mother. It helps them save money on formula and bond with their child. Healthwise, it can lower the risk of Type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, ovarian cancer and postpartum depression, which affects 10 to 15 percent of all mothers within one year of giving birth.

I have one of the Best tuna in 2013. It is big eye and stomach side as usual. This toro is amazing. Uni is also available. It is in season.

Many Tyhoon ( Japanese hurricane ) come to Japan and Japanese fish delivery is not easy. I am dealing with Hawaiian fish. It sells well and on regular menu now.

I really worry about future of Japanese fish because of Fukushima Daiichi issue.  Contaminated water eventually needs to dump to the ocean.  The ocean around Hawaii is still clean and beautiful. It means Hawaiian fish is safe to eat for a while.

Brisk Walking Equals Running for Heart Health

Brisk walking is as good as running for reducing blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes risk — three key players in the development of heart disease, a new study finds.

It’s a matter of how far you walk or run, not how long, said Paul Williams, a staff scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, Calif.

“Both of these activities reduce risk factors, and if you expend the same amount of energy you get the same benefit,” Williams said. The key was the more people walked or ran each week, the more their health improved, he said.

The findings suggest “there is now some choice in the exercise you want to do,” he said. Some people find running more convenient, others prefer walking, especially people just starting to exercise, he noted.

The advantage of running is you can cover twice as much ground in the same amount of time as you would walking, Williams pointed out.

Williams is referring to brisk walking, however. “Walking for exercise. It’s not a mosey kind of thing, but actually walking for exercise,” he explained.

For the study, published online April 4 in Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology, Williams and Dr. Paul Thompson, a cardiologist at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut, collected data from the National Runners’ Health Study and the National Walkers’ Health Study. More than 33,000 runners and nearly 16,000 walkers were involved.

The runners and walkers were 18 to 80 years old, but mostly in their 40s and 50s, the study authors noted.

Over six years, both running and walking led to similar reductions in risk for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes, and perhaps even heart disease, the researchers found.

Specifically, Williams and Thompson found:

Running reduced the risk of high blood pressure 4.2 percent and walking reduced the risk 7.2 percent.

Running reduced the risk for high cholesterol 4.3 percent and walking lowered the risk 7 percent.

Running lowered the risk for diabetes 12.1 percent and walking reduced the risk 12.3 percent.

Running decreased the risk of heart disease 4.5 percent and walking reduced the risk 9.3 percent.

Dr. Gregg Fonarow, a spokesman for the American Heart Association and professor of cardiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, said engaging in regular physical activity is well-established to maintain cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, stroke, and premature death.

The American Heart Association and other organizations highly recommend regular physical activity for the primary and secondary prevention of heart disease and stroke, he added.

“These findings suggest similar benefit for similar energy expenditures with exercise regardless of intensity,” Fonarow said. “However, for those who are capable of engaging in more vigorous exercise, this may be the more time-efficient strategy.”

Other research using data from the walkers’ and runners’ studies found that for weight loss, running beats walking.

A great News! Uni is coming tomorrow on Thursday. I ordered a different supplier to get it. Many customers asked me about uni availability.  I says “Government shutdown is uni shut down.”

Tuna supply is very good. I have wild caught big eye tuna with low fat toro. This is fine until this weekend. Sounds like all fish are fine. And I will order Hawaiian fish next week again.

I received the draft and fixed some issues and sent back to the book company last night. They will send me a final in a week and ready to print out.

I am working for next year’s project. It is Vegetables and Passion. I want to save American people who have troubles with health.


Garlic, good for flu.

Government shut down but we are still open the door for you. Autumn is great season for fish. Sushi Day is coming shortly. It is November 1st and thank you God it’s Friday. Fish is really good this week except Uni, sea urchin. Kinmendai did not come because of hurricane in Japan. But it might come on Thursday. People start to drink red wine now. It is beautiful season of the year in GA. Uni might come on Friday. And I have the biggest tuna of this year is available. It is 60 lbs for 1/4. Like Negitoro Don? No problem, I can feed you.
